So recently, because I love my Sansa Clip so much for exercising, and I thought I could use one more, I picked one of these up at Bestbuy. I have used it for about a week so I can't say anything about the longetivity of the new Clip Plus, but I can tell you about everything else. First I will give you the cons since there is only one and that is also only about preference. I personally LOVED the sleek look of the original sansa clip, but that has been replaced with a sort of glittery finish on the front. That is about it and to add to this, everything else from the outside such as the plastic used has been revamped to feel better in your hands and is just overall better quality. Now on to the most important part, the features. The main thing that sets this apart from the original clip is the addition of a microSD card slot. This can take up to a 32gb microSD card, so if you were to pair one with this, you could potentially get a 36(!)gb memory for this puny little item. That is the next thing I will get into, the size. If you haven't ever heard about the original sansa clip, basically, Sandisk designed this line of Sansa for portability and mainly for exercise. It feels really good in the hand and the non removable clip on the back can clip on to virtually anything. Next is the display. The menu remains much of the same, but Sansa also added slotRadio compatibility and a nicer flow to menu if you're into that. Finally we'll go to the placement of the buttons. On the old sansa clip, there was a button the side for power and hold, but a lot of clip owners including me found that uncomfortable. To cope with this, Sandisk put the power button on the top and put the hold funtion to holding the home button for about 3 seconds. So overall, this is a fantastic MP3 player in any category, but if you are in the market for one for the gym, pass up the Ipod Shuffle for 79$ with no screen and counter-intuitiveness(in my opinion) and get this really nice compact MP3 player for only 50$ for the 4gb, 40$ for the 2gb and 70$ for the 8gb. This is my first MP3 player. I'm 50 yrs. old. I paid $[...]for it. Please note that at the time I typed this review Amazon only had one style available: 4GB, in blue color. And this is because it has only been available on Amazon for about 1 month. In fact the model itself has only been available by Sandisk since early August 2009.
Sound Review: If u read some reviews online you will find that they rate the sound quality of this little guy comparable to units costing much more and are much larger. Here's an example: [...]. And I agree. Even with the volume turned all the way up, there is no background noise (as in hiss) between tracks.
And uploading music files is very easy. Just follow instructions. You can even upload tracks to the mini sd card before inserting it into the player. Nice feature.
The only thing I don't like is they (Sandisk) doesn't allow the clip to be removed like the older models. That means when, not if, but when the clip breaks (because it is made of plastic) you will have to send the whole unit to be repaired.
One more thing, make sure you connect the player to your computer and get the latest firmware update that is available. I didn't do that & found that the equalizer wouldn't work at first. But once I downloaded latest firmware and reset it, it worked fine.

I wanted a small player to play books on tape when I am driving or exercising. This fits the bill perfectly. I recently had three good-sized books (about 50 hours total) loaded at once, with memory to spare. And I can double the memory for about $10 at today's prices, or triple the memory for the same price if I wait a little while.
Sound quality was fine for my purpose, but I'm not listening to music, so can't say one way or the other about that.
Controls take a little learning, since there are only six buttons, but I found it pretty easy to learn, and logical and effective once you do learn it.
Battery life is good. My only very minor quibble is that the battery icon doesn't do a good job of showing when you are running out. It looks low, then the player just quits, so I will probably start recharging when it looks half full. Charging is quick. And if you have a charger with a USB plug, it works here, which is great for me, since my car charger for my Motorola phone charges this.

This is a great little MP3 player. If you want to listen to music and are not interested in video, and don't want to spend a lot, this is definitely worth a look. I use mine mostly while working out and traveling. It is compact and has outstanding sound quality which blows away many of the popular MP3 players including the IPod. I had the previous version Clip, but the Clip+ with removable microSD card is a huge improvement because it gives you essentially unlimited capacity with the MicroSD cards. You can create libraries of music, podcasts, audio books, etc, using removable microSD cards and just pop in whatever you want. The cards are very small and light and with up to 16GB capacity - will store a lot of tunes or data.
I use Microsoft Windows Media player to manage my tunes which are either ripped from my CD library or MP3 downloads. I find it very easy and intuitive to transfer files to the player by "drag and drop". Setup is a snap, No special proprietary software is needed.
The player is sturdy. I use mine while working out so it gets its share of abuse. I also toss it in my briefcase or carry on luggage when traveling and it doesn't seem to bother it. I've dropped it a few times and so far no damage. (I used the previous model the same way for over a year with no ill effects).
The controls are simple and easy to use. And I'll repeat myself by saying the sound is fantastic. Invest in a good set of headphones or ear buds and you will have a listening experience that beats many of the high cost "high fi" units out there. This is an outstanding value for money, and one of the best purchases I've made in the electronics realm!

Had my Sansa Clip for a few days now, and I'm loving it! Very easy to load songs onto, sound quality is great, battery life is very good (been listening to it at work for a few hours each day and battery is around 90%), and the size and built-in clip make this player very convenient to use on the go. You'll probably want to invest in some better earphones than the ones that come with the player, but that's pretty much the case with any player you purchase. I haven't used the expandable memory yet, but it is nice to know that I have that option to use if I want to. Great little player for the money - quit thinking about it and just GET ONE!!!
11/9/09 UPDATE - Over a month with the Sansa Clip +, and it is still great! Very easy to transfer music to the Clip from Windows Media Player, and I'm still very impressed with the audio quality and battery life! I did end up buying a 4gb micro CD card, so I instantly turned the 4gb player into an 8gb player (side note - there is a review stating that the expandable memeory slot doesn't have a cover to protect from dirt & dust, but buying a micro SD card and just keeping it in the slot makes a pretty tight seal, so I don't think any dirt or dust would get into the slot).
